BIO

I was born in Hangzhou, China and my two hard-working parents moved us when I was four-years-old to the US. My dad was getting his doctorate degree in Engineering at the University of Arizona, while my mom was waitressing at a Chinese restaurant. While she labored orders of orange chicken and fried rice, I was in the back hallway next to the kitchen, listening to my Sony Walkman, drawing, writing and creating new worlds. This is where my love for storytelling blossomed. And I always got the best leftovers from the kitchen.

While studying in New York, I took advantage of all arts the city had to offer and in-return “grew up” into a diverse palette of interests. With a background in classical piano and a deep practice in ballet and modern dance, I combine all of my experiences into the cinema arts by exploring sonic emotions and intentional movement as a means to tell story.
